My child is studying in the United States. Can I live with my child?
Although you can use a B-1/B-2 visa (or a Visa Waiver Program trip, if eligible) to visit your child, you cannot live with your child unless you has its own immigrant, work or student visa.
The customer's passport has expired but the visa to the United States in that passport is still valid. Does the client need to apply for a new visa?
The answer is: No. If your visa is still valid, you may come to the United States with two passports (old and new), provided the valid visa is not damaged and is of the appropriate type for the primary purpose of your visit.
Note: the name and other personal data on the two passports must be the same. You must not remove the visa from the old passport to stick it on the new passport. If you do this, the visa will no longer be valid.
Already have a non-immigrant visa that is about to expire and want to extend it, do I need to go through the entire visa application process again?

Do all visa applicants have to go to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate for an interview?
The answer is: Yes, for most applicants. There are only a few exceptions to the interview requirement.
The following applicants are not normally required to be present in person:
► Applicants for A-1, A-2 (Central Government Officials) Visas, C-2, C-3 (Central Government Officials in transit to carry out government work) central government) or G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4 (central government official traveling in connection with an international organization or an employee of an international organization)
► Eligible applicants for visa extension by post.
How long must a passport be valid for a visa to come to the US?
A valid passport valid for at least six months from the time you intend to leave the United States, unless you fall into one of the following cases:
► You apply for an A, G or NATO visa.
► You are applying for an F student visa and will be staying in the United States to complete the course of study specified on the I-20 form. However, international students should note that, before leaving the United States, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
► The country that issued your passport has an agreement with the United States to extend the validity of your passport for another 6 months from the expiration date indicated on the passport.
Your passport also needs to have at least 2 blank pages.
